PETA #1: INFOGRAPHICS ABOUT SAFETY RULES

FOOD SAFETY RULES AND GUIDELINES

01. Always wear hairnet, apron, and gloves before entering the workplace.

  • Wearing them protects us from burns and injuries and prevents us from contaminating the food and ingredients with our hair, fingers, and other body parts.

02. Practice proper handwashing.

  • Proper handwashing is very important before we handle food or cook since it prevents germs from contaminating them, which can possibly lead to food poisoning if it happens.

03. Sanitize the workplace before and after using it.

  • Sanitation of tools and surfaces prevents the transfer of bacteria and other pathogens into the ingredients. This ensures that the product served is safe and clean.

04. Label food containers accordingly.

  • Through proper food labels, we are able to differentiate ingredients and condiments from each other, preventing any instances of adding the wrong ingredient into the mix and possibly causing stomachaches and diarrhea.

05. Keep food and ingredients at right temperatures.

  • Keeping food at right temperatures help kill off pathogens and bacteria or slow down their growth. This keeps the food from becoming unsafe for consumption and causing illness.

06. Handle cooking equipment and tools with care.

  • This prevents any accidents or injuries from happening while working. Especially with blades and knives, one must handle them responsibly. Avoid playing with the tools while working.

07. Be careful when handling or lifting hot equipment or tools.

  • Mishandling of hot equipment or tools can lead into burns and other serious accidents. Following this safety rule can help minimize the risks for accidents and injuries related to burns.

08. Store food and ingredients in separate containers.

  • Storing them properly and separately prevents spoilage and contamination. It also helps preserve the nutritional value of each ingredient and prevent causing any foodborne illness.

09. Dispose spoiled or expired ingredients properly.

  • If not disposed properly, they can cause pathogens to thrive and contaminate other foods that are not spoiled. Proper disposal also prevents attraction of pests and insects.

10. Do not drink or smoke within the work premises.

  • Drinking can dull the senses and reaction time, affecting one's conduct during work. It can also cause accidents to take place. Cigarette butts and smoke can also cause food contamination.
